You may soon be able to hide the “At a Glance” widget on Pixels،

After years of user requests, Google is finally giving Pixel owners the option to disable the At a Glance widget on Pixel Launcher. This change was spotted in progress as part of the Android 14 QPR2 Beta 1 update, released yesterday.

As Pixel device owners know all too well, the At a Glance widget is a small text bar located at the top of the Pixel launcher’s main home screen. It displays information such as weather, calendar events and traffic conditions. While the widget can be useful, the fact that it cannot be disabled has led to complaints about its intrusive nature.

However, as noted Michael Rahman, the latest Android 14 beta includes a hidden toggle that will allow you to completely hide the “At a Glance” widget from the Home screen, freeing up that space for other app icons and /or widgets. This is a change that should be welcomed by many Pixel phone users who want more control over the appearance of their device’s home screen.

However, it is important to note that this change will still be available to the general public in a few months. THE Android 14 The QPR2 Beta 1 update is currently only available to developers and beta testers, and the “Add at a Glance to Home Screen” settings toggle is still not active. Additionally, the final version of Android 14 QPR betas are not expected to be released until next year.

Historically, the Pixel Launcher’s customization options were quite limited, with some users having to opt for a third-party launcher that offered more flexibility. For Pixel phone owners, hiding the At a Glance widget will open up new possibilities and might entice them to give the out-of-the-box experience a chance. Now, if only the Pixel Launcher also supported icon packs, then we’d really be in business.
