Rory McIlroy’s ball lands in woman’s lap at World Tour Championship،
It was Rory McIlroy’s most embarrassing lie of the day.
The four-time major winner’s tee shot on the par-3 13th hole of the World Tour Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, somehow landed in the lap of a spectator on the right Thursday of the green.
Amid laughter, the rest of the spectators left, but the woman remained in place, her feet crossed and the ball wedged between her legs.
McIlroy approached her, scratched her head and then pretended to shoot, much to the amusement of the gallery. McIlroy stepped back and said, “Okay, uh. Referee!”

The match referee came out and gave McIlroy a drop, saying, “Basically, it’s the spot below her.”
“You can stand up,” McIlroy said with a laugh to the woman, who handed him the ball, stood up, picked up her bag and returned to the gallery to applause.
McIlroy drove onto the green and ended up with a bogey. McIlroy, who had already clinched the top spot in the DP World Tour rankings before the final event of the season, shot a 1-under 71 in the first round and is 4 shots behind co-leaders Nicolai Hojgaard, Matthieu Pavon and Julien Guerrier.
