Waze launches new safety feature for drivers

Waze announcement This week, a new security feature is now available for users of the navigation app on iOS and Android devices. This particularly important new feature will allow drivers to view road accident history before starting their journey.

Unsurprisingly, the security feature is powered by AI (artificial intelligence), but the Waze community also contributes to it. According to Waze, the crash history alerts provided by its app combine historical crash data and important route information.

Depending on typical traffic levels, whether it’s a highway or local road, altitude, etc., a road may be more or less accident prone. Fortunately, Waze’s new feature takes all of these aspects into consideration and provides you with an alert in case it decides that the road you’re about to drive on is dangerous.

The new safety feature has been implemented in a way that allows drivers to keep an eye on the road at all times, even when they receive an alert from the app. In fact, Waze announced that it has limited the number of alerts seen by drivers, and they don’t appear at all on the roads they regularly take.

Crash History alerts should now be available to all Waze users on mobile, regardless of their location.
