Redmagic 9 Pro Review – GameRevolution

THE Redmagic 9 Pro is Nubia's latest gaming phone. Inside are the latest and greatest components, while on the outside are an impressive design and a transparent, notch-free display. This combination is synonymous with premium quality, but the price is incredibly competitive. After several weeks of putting the phone to the test, here is my Redmagic 9 Pro goodbye.

Heavy on specs

Let's start with the specifications, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 being in the spotlight. The substantial increase in CPU and GPU performance, combined with 12/16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512 GB UFS 4.0 storage, ensures lightning-fast operations, making it an ideal companion for gaming sessions intense. Its dedicated gaming chip, Red Core 2, further enhances the experience by reducing power consumption, thereby extending battery life.

Go long

Speaking of battery life, the 6,500mAh battery and 80W fast charging are game-changing features, providing over a day and a half of longevity for my normal usage and capable of fully recharging in just over 30 minutes.

The ability to bypass charging comes into play during marathon gaming sessions. This allows the device to function properly without generating unnecessary heat when charging the battery.

Stay calm

The upgraded ICE 13 cooling system also helps beat the heat with its included 22,000 RPM fan and customizable RGB lighting. It seems quieter than previous versions, which will please those who play without headphones. Additionally, those who game or consume media without headphones will enjoy the incredible sound emitted from the speakers.

Fast transparent screen

The Redmagic 9 Pro features a 6.8-inch FHD+ flat display, delivering clear and bright visuals with a peak brightness of 1,600 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Touch response is exceptionally smooth, thanks to the touch snapshot of 2000 Hz and average touch sampling rates of 960 Hz. Protected by Gorilla Glass 5, the device combines durability and sleek design, available in three color variations: Sleet, Cyclone and Snowfall.

To do work

Although the camera system, including a 50 MP main and ultra-wide-angle camera, shows improvements, it remains the weakest link of the phone. The selfie camera under the screen is particularly lackluster, although it's certainly the best version yet. Overall, the camera system gets the job done, and avid gamers will likely appreciate the flat back and uninterrupted screen more than the sharper selfies.

Operating system improvements

Gaming-focused Redmagic OS 9.0 offers a personalized and user-friendly interface. Gaming enhancements, including 520Hz shoulder triggers, add a level of control and immersion rare in mobile games. There are a ton of gaming-oriented features buried in the settings for those looking for more advanced customization possibilities.

The price is right

At $649, the Redmagic Pro 9 is very affordable for the specs offered. The inclusion of the fast charger, screen protector and case in the box helps add to the value proposition.
