Gemini chatbot integration in Google Messages begins to roll out in beta،
Google is finally deploying Gemini, its conversational AI model, directly in the Google Messages application for certain beta testers. This limited deployment confirms previous leaks and APK teardowns promising that this integration would arrive soon.
In case you missed it, Gemini is an advanced extended language model (LLM) developed by Google AI. Think of it as a super-intelligent chatbot, capable of understanding natural language and responding in remarkably helpful ways. Gemini can brainstorm ideas, generate text, translate languages, write different types of creative content, and answer your questions informatively, even if they are open-ended, challenging, or unusual.
Now, as reported 9to5Google, you can chat with this very useful bot without ever leaving your Messages app. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as updating your app, as there are some prerequisites to have a chance of benefiting from the feature, such as:
- You must be a Google Messages beta tester. This means that you will have to register for the beta test from Google Messages app link on Play Store. Once you sign up, your app will be updated and you can now beta test features before anyone else gets them.
- Use a compatible device, which currently is Pixel 6 or later, Pixel Fold, Samsung Galaxy S22 or later, or Samsung Galaxy Z Flip/Fold.
- Enable RCS chat features.
- Have a personal Google account. This means it cannot be a workspace or managed by a Family Link account.
- Be 18 years or older.
- Set your phone's language to English (or French if you're in Canada).

Please note that your conversations with Gemini are not end-to-end encrypted, even if they are in RCS. Additionally, chatting with Gemini is a one-on-one experience, meaning it cannot be accessed or transferred to other conversations.
