YouTube Music’s revamped Now Playing UI now seems to be available to more people

YouTube Music has now benefited from a revamped playback screen, which comes with subtle changes and a more streamlined appearance. The new look was spotted months ago by a lucky few, but now it appears it's being rolled out to more people, reports Android Police.

Last October, the Now Playing UI update on Android was first spotted. The changes are slight, and the main one is that the background is now gradient instead of a fixed color. Reddit user Acrobatic-Monitor516 shared a screenshot which shows the changes made to the user interface.

The new change is more apparent with brighter colored album covers and more subtle for others. Additionally, the Up, Next, Lyrics, and Related tabs are now floating icons and are no longer connected to a single block, providing a cleaner appearance.

The rest of the user interface remains the same. Since this is a fairly subtle change, many people may not have noticed it, even though it's been there for a few days. It's unclear how many people got the new UI, some won't receive it yet, according to the Reddit thread. If you don't have it yet, you probably will very soon.

YouTube Music is now gearing up to also become a centralized podcasting destination and rival Spotify. The Google Podcast app, as you may have already heard, will disappear by April next year. Along with these visual tweaks to the app, we expect more work on YouTube Music so that it can compete even better with Spotify and others.
