California chipmaker AMD has just launched the new Ryzen 8040 series of mobile processors. These chipsets have up to 1.6 times more AI processing power than previous AMD models. Additionally, the company is also making its Ryzen AI software widely available so users can easily build and deploy machine learning models on their PCs.

In the official press release, AMD mentions that the processors will be widely available in models from popular OEMs like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Razer, starting in the first quarter of 2024. The company claims the high-end. The Ryzen 9 8945HS chipset can deliver up to 64% faster video editing and 37% faster 3D rendering than the Core i9-13900H with similar resources.

Based on the AMD Zen 4 architecture, the new processors also deliver faster gaming performance. According to the company, these processors are aimed at creative professionals, gamers, and consumer users with heavy workflows. They are not only energy efficient but also support advanced LPDDR5 RAM.

AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS Details

The AMD Ryzen 8040 series consists of nine new processors. The most powerful is the Ryzen 9 8945HS, with eight cores and 16 threads, a maximum clock speed of up to 5.2 GHz and 24 MB of total cache. The second most powerful chipset is the Ryzen 7 8845HS, which also comes with eight cores, 16 threads, and a maximum clock speed of 5.1 GHz. These two processors have a TDP of 45 W.

Among the Ryzen 5 models, the Ryzen 5 8645HS is the best performing with six cores, 12 threads, a maximum clock speed of up to 5.0 GHz and a TDP of 45 W. The base model of the range, the Ryzen 3 8440U, comes with four cores and eight threads and has a maximum clock speed of 4.7 GHz.
