iOS 17.4.1, iPadOS 17.4.1 arrive carrying important security fixes; older models get update too،
While it may not seem like a big deal, I feel the need to tell you that iOS 17.4.1 is here. Apple says: “This update provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users.” The update, along with iPadOS 17.4.1, was released to “iPhone and later, iPad Air 3rd generation”. and later, iPad 6th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later.
At the same time, Apple deemed the security fixes important enough to offer the update on certain iPhone and iPad models that no longer have Apple support. For example, “iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone At Apple support page showing the security releases, all Apple said was “Details coming soon”.

This means that CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) numbers are coming. CVE numbers are used to catalog security issues and knowing that Apple will release them soon indicates that the new updates will fix some serious security vulnerabilities that could have been and could still be exploited by attackers. Typically, when no CVE number is involved in an update, Apple will report this on the Security Updates page.
Another interesting theory mentioned by Forbes is the security update in iOS 17.4.1 must be important because it's released before Apple even releases the first beta version of iOS 17.5. To install any of the updates mentioned above, go to Settings > General > Software update and follow the directions. You may not notice anything different on your iPhone or iPad after installing the update, but your phone and tablet will be better protected against the unknown issues that led Apple to release the update. iOS 17.4.1, iPadOS 17.4.1, iOS16.7.7 and iPadOS 16.7.7.
