Sydney Roosters and Jillaroos star Jessica Sergis is set to lose part of her toe in order to extend her rugby league career.<\/p>\n

Talk to The Daily Telegraph<\/i>preparing for the Jillaroos’ clash against the New Zealand Ferns in Townsville on Saturday night, the tough-as-nails 26-year-old says a broken toe has taken its toll on her since she was injured in the final from last year’s World Cup, despite already undergoing surgery.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to get in there and clean it or cut the top off. My toes are ugly anyway. A toe is a toe,\u201d Sergis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know it was broken. I thought he was infected. I was taking all of this to reduce the infection. I came home and had scans and then surgery a few days later.<\/p>\n

\u201cI still have problems with it. I still can’t put on shoes. I need to go up in size. It’s really annoying.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s my left little toe. To be honest, it looks like my big toe. It’s big and bloated. If I stand on it, it absolutely hurts.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like it\u2019s a little broken. I had a week<\/a> off during pre-season and was hospitalized for five days because we thought it was infected.<\/p>\n

Sergis says his situation could potentially be similar to that of Roosters forward Angus Crichton, who had half of a finger amputated in 2017 to ensure he could continue his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cAngus can cut off a finger, I can cut off a toe,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Sergis is preparing to go under the knife again later this month, the Daily Telegraph reports.<\/p>\n
