A recent incident saw him in action, saving a woman and her dog from a flash flood over the summer.  The good news is that this feature isn&#8217;t going away with the new <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/iphone\/\"   title=\"iPhone\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">iPhone<\/a> 15 series;  in fact, Apple has a little something for previous generation owners.  On the first anniversary of the launch of the security service in the United States and Canada, <span style=\"font-style: italic;\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/newsroom\/2023\/11\/apple-extends-emergency-sos-via-satellite-for-an-additional-free-year\/\" class=\"external\">Apple<\/a><\/span>    declared an extension of Emergency SOS by satellite for an additional year free, exclusively for <span>iPhone14<\/span> users. <\/p>\n<p>Emergency SOS via satellite allows users to text emergency services even when cellular or Wi-Fi coverage is out of range.  According to Kaiann Drance, vice president of worldwide iPhone product marketing at Apple, this product has indeed played a vital role in saving lives around the world.  From rescuing a <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/man\/\"   title=\"man\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">man<\/a> whose car plunged off a 400-foot cliff in Los Angeles to locating lost hikers in Italy&#8217;s Apennine Mountains, countless stories highlight the importance of &#8220;<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">customers can contact emergency responders when they otherwise would not be able to<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Originally promised as a two-year coverage package with purchase of the <span>iPhone14<\/span>, Apple has now sweetened the deal with an additional 12 months.  This means free coverage for the <span>iPhone14<\/span> series will begin to expire from September 2025, depending on when you purchased and activated your <span>iPhone14<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>As for the future, the specifics of Apple&#8217;s pricing for satellite emergency SOS remain unclear.  While it is clear that Apple intends to introduce a fee for iPhone users to access this feature, the timing and amount remains unclear.  There is speculation that Apple may consider wider activation in more countries before rolling out the subscription fees, but only time will reveal the plan.
