Tottenham’s Maddison to miss EURO qualifiers with ankle injury\u060c<\/p>\n

James Maddison has withdrawn from England’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia due to an ankle injury, his club Tottenham Hotspur confirmed on Friday.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old was substituted in first-half stoppage time during Spurs’ 4-1 home defeat to rivals Chelsea after falling to the ground without contact. This match ended Ange Postecoglou’s undefeated start<\/a> to the season with Spurs.<\/p>\n

Maddison has three goals and five assists in 11 Premier League appearances since arriving in north London following Leicester City’s relegation in June.<\/p>\n

He joins a long injury list at Spurs which includes Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Ben Davies and Manor Solomon.<\/p>\n

“We can confirm that James Maddison has been withdrawn from the England squad due to an ankle injury,” Spurs said on X, formerly known as Twitter. “[Maddison] will remain at Hotspur Way for rehabilitation with the club’s medical staff. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Second-placed Spurs, who are one point behind leaders Manchester City after 11 matches, travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.<\/p>\n
