The last time Apple gave us a new generation was in 2022, when the 5th generation iPad Air was released, the first to feature one of the company&#8217;s new M-series chipsets, which adorn MacBooks, iMacs, etc.  .<\/p>\n<div>But we&#8217;re well into the final months of 2023, and we kind of expected that Apple would have already announced the new iPad Air.  Considering this didn&#8217;t happen during the Scary Fast Halloween event on October 30, it&#8217;s safe to say we&#8217;ll probably have to wait until early 2024 to finally see the 6th generation iPad Air.<\/div>\n<p>What upgrades and changes will the iPad Air 2024 bring?  Well, frankly, it still remains a big mystery.  For now, much of what we know about the next Air is based on speculation, with a few small rumors sprinkled in.  There is, however, an interesting possibility that could make the new generation different from all its predecessors.<\/p>\n<h3>Upgrades expected with the iPad Air 6<\/h3>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>New chipset<\/li>\n<li>Two size variations<\/li>\n<li>New <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/colors\/\"   title=\"colors\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">colors<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Contents:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"specs\" class=\"anchor\">iPad Air 6 specifications<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re familiar with the iPad Air 2022, you might notice an uncanny level of resemblance here. The last redesign may have been two generations ago, when the company introduced the 4th generation, but that&#8217;s still pretty close when it comes to iPads or tablets in general.<\/p>\n<p>What we really hope to see, though, is the selfie camera being placed on one of the longer sides of the tablet, just like it is on the latest iPad <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/pro\/\"   title=\"Pro\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Pro<\/a> models.  One of the best things you can do on an iPad is place it somewhere in your home, with the screen facing you, and FaceTime chat with a friend or family member while you do something else and to have the camera on the vertical side.  of the screen is not exactly optimal.<\/p>\n<div>Either way, we expect the iPad Air 6 to keep the same design as the 2022 model, although since the previous two generations looked like the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/iphone\/\"   title=\"iPhone\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">iPhone<\/a> 12 to 14, it&#8217;s possible that Apple make those sharp edges a little less sharp.  This would correspond to the same design change on the iPhone 15 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/series\/\"   title=\"series\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">series<\/a> \u2013 a small detail but one that definitely becomes noticeable in everyday life, at least when it comes to comfort.<\/div>\n<div>As for the colors, although there has been no news on the subject, it can be assumed that Apple will go for a similar palate and spice things up by perhaps replacing one of the more eye-catching, like blue.  or purple, with something like green or gold.<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2><span id=\"display\" class=\"anchor\">iPad Air 6 screen<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Unfortunately, the iPad Air is generally treated the same as a non-Pro iPhone.  In other words, don&#8217;t expect to see a high screen refresh rate here, we think it will stay at 60Hz. We would love to see Apple equip its mid-range tablet with an OLED panel this time, instead of the IPS LCD one from the 2022 version.<\/p>\n<p>Given that screens across the tech space have gotten brighter recently, we also wouldn&#8217;t be too surprised if the new iPad Air came with a noticeably brighter screen.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2><span id=\"camera\" class=\"anchor\">iPad Air 6 Camera<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s no secret that the rear camera of a tablet is probably the least used part, so we don&#8217;t expect any major changes on that end of the spectrum with the iPad Air 6&#8217;s camera system However, we might see an improvement with the front camera, as it is the most important when it comes to tablets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2><span id=\"performance\" class=\"anchor\">iPad Air 6 performance<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The iPad Air 6&#8217;s performance is the only area where there have been rumors of a solid upgrade from the M1 chipset to (most likely) the M2.  What does this mean in practice?  Well, Apple claims that the M2 has a 35% more powerful GPU in comparison and an 18% faster CPU.  M2 also comes with a 40% faster Neural Engine, which is the part of the silicon responsible for all things artificial intelligence, like Siri, for example.<\/p>\n<p>As for RAM and storage, everything currently indicates absolutely no changes.  But having no changes, especially with storage options, would be almost as disappointing as not having a higher display refresh rate, since that would mean the same 64GB and 256GB.<\/p>\n<p>256GB is a great compromise and fits well with the mid-range place the iPad Air occupies in Apple&#8217;s tablet portfolio, but 64GB?  In 2024?!?  Come on, this sounds like the least funny joke in the world of mobile technology.  The iPad Air&#8217;s target audience probably doesn&#8217;t need 512GB or more, but they don&#8217;t need 64GB either.<\/p>\n<div>Changing the base model to 128GB of storage would be the way to go here, but we&#8217;ll have to wait and see.  The 14-inch versions of the latest MacBook Pro received a lot of criticism for coming with 8GB of RAM for the base configuration (which is also ridiculous, especially for its price), so maybe Apple will think twice about it times in case he really intended to.  to release the iPad Air with 64 GB of storage. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><h2><span id=\"software\" class=\"anchor\">iPad Air 6 software<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>Apple released iPadOS 17 in September, when the new <span>iPhone15<\/span> The series has been announced, so if the iPad Air is truly ready for release next spring, it will launch straight from the box.<\/p>\n<p>iPadOS 17 includes many features that iPhones enjoy, such as lock screen customization, interactive widgets on the Home screen, and you can now check your health and fitness information on your iPad because the Health application is also available there.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to software updates, iPads are generally supported for 5-7 years, just like iPhones.  Most of the time, the duration is 6 years, so don&#8217;t worry about sustainability, you&#8217;re covered.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h2><span id=\"battery\" class=\"anchor\">iPad Air 6 battery<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Just like the rest of its products, Apple doesn&#8217;t specify the charging speeds or battery capacity of its iPads, including the iPad Air.  That said, the 2022 iPad Air 5 generally lasted about a day of use, so we can expect similar durations from the iPad Air 6.<\/p>\n<p>However, one thing we seriously hope to see is faster loading speeds.  iPad Air 5 charges from 0 to 100 percent in approximately 2 hours and 10 to 15 minutes, using Apple&#8217;s recommended 20W charger.  Even increasing this to 30W would make things much better, given that the battery size doesn&#8217;t increase in the same amount.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2><span id=\"audio\" class=\"anchor\">iPad Air 6 audio and haptic quality<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Besides the screen, the speakers are also one of the main areas where Apple differentiates the Air from the iPad Pros.  The latter comes with four speakers, while the Air has two.  That&#8217;s not to say the audio quality is bad on the mid-range iPad, it&#8217;s nowhere near as impressive.  Apple could improve the sound with the iPad Air 6, we doubt it will add two more speakers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2>iPad Air 6 models<\/h2>\n<p>Rumor has it that Apple could release two iterations of the iPad Air 6. Specifically, we&#8217;re talking about two sizes, one 10.9 inches and one 12.9 inches, corresponding to the iPad Pro line.  It&#8217;s unclear, however, whether size will be the only difference.  Well, besides screen size and battery, of course.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2><span id=\"summary\" class=\"anchor\">iPad Air 6 Summary and Final Verdict<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s a little hard to get excited about the iPad Air 6 at this point.  If the only changes really are the chipset, a few new colors and an extra size, then it wouldn&#8217;t be anything to get excited about.  That being said, we expect Apple to surprise with more changes than these, so even if there&#8217;s nothing &#8220;spicy&#8221; coming out of the rumor yet, that doesn&#8217;t mean the product will not be <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/exciting\/\"   title=\"exciting\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">exciting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>iPad Air 6 Preview: new chip, new size option, and&#8230;?\u060c The image above is for the iPad Air 5 and is for illustration purposes only.
