Two major OLED display manufacturers will start production of iPad Pro panels in February\u060c<\/p>\n

The first Apple iPad models to feature an OLED panel instead of an LCD screen are expected to be the upcoming 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro tablets (2024). The pair will replace the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2022). This latest model uses mini-LED backlighting allowing it to have a contrast of 1,000,000:1 thanks to the 2,500 dimming zones created with this technology. Mini-LED was used as a stopgap solution while Apple waited for OLED prices to become more affordable, which apparently has become the case.<\/p>\n

The new iPad Pro<\/a> (2024) is expected to be revealed after three new iPad models are updated in the first quarter of 2024. We should see the base 11th generation iPad hit the market along with a new iPad Air powered by the M2 chip (which replaces the M1 running the current version of the device). And according to rumors, the A17 Pro or A16 Bionic chip will replace the A15 Bionic in the seventh generation iPad mini.<\/div>\n
A report from Korea Chosun-Biz<\/a><\/span> (via OLED Information<\/a>,AppleInsider<\/a>) reports that Samsung Display and LG Display will begin production of 10 million OLED panels for the iPad Pro (2024) ahead of schedule in February. The report states that each panel will cost Apple three times as much as the OLED panels used on the iPhone<\/a>. 60% of orders were sent to LG Display and the remaining 40% to Samsung Display.<\/div>\n

Apple’s tablet business, like the entire industry in general, is suffering from a post-pandemic decline in demand. At the start<\/a> of the pandemic, tablets flew off store shelves as people working from home used them for work during the day and for watching movies at night. Children used tablets to help them keep up with their classes and homework remotely during the day and to play video<\/a> games and post on social media sites at night.<\/p>\n

But now that people have returned to the office and children to school, the demand for this versatile device has diminished. As for Apple, it didn’t help that the company didn’t refresh its iPad lineup at all during the year.
