Tyson Fury did enough on the scorecards to defeat Francis Ngannou by split decision, but his disappointing performance, which included his third-round knockdown, forced our panelists to lose him four spots to 10th in the final book for book from ESPN. rankings.<\/p>\n

Boxing coach and commentator Teddy Atlas agrees, saying the lack of preparation and Fury’s not being ready must count, dropping him three spots to No. 8 on his list.<\/p>\n

“Although I partly attribute this to Fury not being mentally prepared or aware of what he was facing, Ngannou being much better than he or anyone expected and having a bad time. “Overall, there were still some technical flaws that were exposed through all of this,” Atlas said. \u201cAnd if I’m going to be fair and consistent in following a process for judging what we’re judging here, then performance has to count and he has to at least lose a few places.\u201d<\/p>\n
