YouTube launches new features for teens\u2019 protection\u060c<\/p>\n

YouTube continues to add new features to prevent harmful content from being exposed to teens. The video company already has strict rules in place that protect teens on its platform, but there will always be people who find a way around them.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, YouTube announcement<\/a> a new set of features that will further improve the protection of adolescents. The company developed these features in partnership with the Youth and Families Advisory Committee and will implement them in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

That being said, YouTube revealed that it is now limiting repeated recommendations of videos related to content that compares physical characteristics and idealizes certain types over others, idealizes specific fitness levels or body weights, or displays social aggression in the form of intimidation.<\/p>\n

Another change announced this week is the complete overhaul of the Take a Break and Bedtime reminders features so that they are more visible and appear more frequently. The changes will be more widespread for viewers under 18 whose accounts have these reminders enabled by default.<\/p>\n

It’s also important to add that these features should appear as in short films and long-form videos, with a default setting for Take a Break reminders every hour, which can be adjusted.<\/p>\n

Finally, YouTube announced that it is expanding Crisis Resource Panels into a new full-page experience, which will hopefully help viewers pause and explore help topics when searching YouTube for certain queries related to suicide, self-harm and eating disorders.\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
