{"id":6322,"date":"2023-11-02T00:44:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-01T21:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/6322\/original_title-473\/"},"modified":"2023-11-02T00:44:01","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T21:44:01","slug":"original_title-473","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/?p=6322","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Apple is inferior&#8217; and other reasons why iPhone 15 is causing a stir in China for the wrong reasons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;Apple is inferior&#8217; and other reasons why iPhone 15 is causing a stir in China for the wrong reasons\u060c<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>Chinese social media site Weibo is full of scathing comments about Apple&#8217;s latest smartphone, the iPhone 15.<\/div>\n<div><span>iPhone15<\/span> shipments in China during the release month were 6% lower than the iPhone 14, according to market research GfK, reported by <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Bloomberg<\/span>.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-style: italic;\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/new-phone-15-apple-people-china-reaction-2023-10#:~:text=People%20in%20China%20just%20aren,one%20person%20wrote%20on%20Weibo.\">Business Insider<\/a><\/span>    reports that messages on the <span>iPhone15<\/span> have garnered more than 100 million views on Weibo, with many consumers in the world&#8217;s largest smartphone market criticizing the new series as disappointing.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"quote quote-auto nolinks\" style=\"width: 100.0%\">\n<p>It&#8217;s not that Huawei is superior, it&#8217;s that Apple is inferior.  If it were you, would you upgrade to the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/iphone\/\"   title=\"iPhone\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">iPhone<\/a> 15 just to get USB C charging?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Although many users are unimpressed that Apple took so long to move to USB-C, others have criticized it for being very expensive, while still offering nearly the same features than comparable phones from Xiaomi, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/oppo\/\"   title=\"Oppo\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Oppo<\/a> and Huawei.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"quote quote-auto nolinks\" style=\"width: 100.0%\">\n<p>Other than Apple&#8217;s software, everything else is worse.  Their prices are so much higher.  Today, Huawei, Xiaomi and Oppo are just as good, if not better, than Apple.  \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>And speaking of Huawei, the company appears to be making a comeback and this appears to have contributed to the drop in demand for the <span>iPhone15<\/span>. <\/div>\n<div>The Chinese company recently surprised the Western world by introducing the Mate 60 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/pro\/\"   title=\"Pro\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Pro<\/a>, a flagship phone with a local 7nm chip and 5G connectivity.  The phone is doing extremely well in China and within months of its launch, it has helped Huawei increase its shipments by 37% over last year in the country, according to Counterpoint Research.  Meanwhile, Apple reported double-digit growth in the third quarter of 2023 in China.<\/div>\n<p>Huawei was the only company that posed a threat to Apple in China before U.S. sanctions crippled its ability to produce high-end phones.  It&#8217;s no surprise that its regular return would become a problem for Apple.<\/p>\n<p>The Mate 60 Pro is not the only smartphone offered by the <span>iPhone15<\/span> is however compared to.  Some people don&#8217;t see a compelling enough reason to upgrade from their current phone, which serves them just fine.<\/p>\n<div><\/p>\n<div class=\"quote quote-auto nolinks\" style=\"width: 100.0%\">\n<p>Even my 5 year old Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro still works well.  It doesn&#8217;t hang down and when I&#8217;m away I don&#8217;t need to carry a portable battery.  What do you do with your Apple phones?  &#8221; <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>Many users are disappointed that not much has changed between the iPhone 13 and 15 and they both have the same refresh rate.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"quote quote-auto nolinks\" style=\"width: 100.0%\">\n<p>There is not a big difference between the iPhone 13 and 15. The <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/camera\/\"   title=\"camera\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">camera<\/a> improvement is not big.  The batteries are just as small.  Charging still takes so long.  The telephone signal is weak.  There is no need to upgrade&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"quote quote-auto nolinks\" style=\"width: 100.0%\">\n<p>An iPhone isn&#8217;t cheap.  Apple has reaped huge profits from its iPhones.  Buying an iPhone is essentially giving Americans money.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>Although you might be tempted to say that <span>iPhone15<\/span> is one of the best smartphones on the market and the lack of enthusiasm displayed by Chinese consumers could be rooted in nationalism, it is worth pointing out that Apple&#8217;s most recent phones have also been criticized by consumers in other regions of the world for many of the same reasons.<\/div>\n<p>Apple has recently found itself caught in the crossfire of the rivalry between America and China.  Some Chinese government officials are no longer allowed to use the iPhone.<\/p>\n<div>China accounted for 18% of Apple&#8217;s revenue in 2022 and in the fourth quarter of 2022, the iPhone accounted for a quarter of smartphone sales in China.
