{"id":5432,"date":"2023-10-29T02:31:06","date_gmt":"2023-10-28T23:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/5432\/laliga-probing-racial-abuse-aimed\/"},"modified":"2023-10-29T02:31:06","modified_gmt":"2023-10-28T23:31:06","slug":"laliga-probing-racial-abuse-aimed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/?p=5432","title":{"rendered":"LaLiga probing racial abuse aimed at Vinicius Jr. in Cl\u00e1sico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LaLiga probing racial abuse aimed at Vinicius Jr. in Cl\u00e1sico\u060c<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"article-meta\">\n<ul class=\"authors\">\n<li class=\"mugshot-shown\">\n<div class=\"author-img\"><\/div>\n<p>Sam Marsden, Barcelona correspondent<span class=\"timestamp \">October 28, 2023, 8:45 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>LaLiga investigates racist abuse targeting Real Madrid striker Vin\u00edcius J\u00fanior during his team&#8217;s 2-1 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/win\/\"   title=\"win\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">win<\/a> <em>The classic<\/em> defeat Barcelona at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The league has been in contact with Vin\u00edcius&#8217; camp, sources told ESPN, and is working with police to identify the perpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaLiga has worked from the beginning to identify individuals involved in racist insults and will file complaints, as is always the case,\u201d the league said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We coordinate with the Mossos d&#8217;Esquadra [Catalan police] and FC Barcelona.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Barca said it would cooperate with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBarcelona will always defend the values \u200b\u200bof <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/football\/\"   title=\"football\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">football<\/a> and sport such as respect for the opponent and we will investigate any racist insults that may have occurred this afternoon during the match against Real Madrid,\u201d the Catalan club said in a brief communicated.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline inline-photo full\">\n<figure><picture><source data- media=\"(min-width: 376px)\"><source data- media=\"(max-width: 375px)\"><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/><\/source><\/source><\/picture><figcaption class=\"photoCaption\">Vinicius was the victim of racist insults on several occasions during his stay in Spain. <cite>Photo by Pedro Salado\/Quality Sport Images\/Getty Images<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>According to footage shared on social media, the incident appears to have happened when Vin\u00edcius was substituted at the end of the second half.<\/p>\n<p>Carlo Ancelotti replaced him shortly after Jude Bellingham scored his second goal of the match as Madrid came from a goal down to beat Bar\u00e7a, who had taken an early lead through Ilkay G\u00fcndogan.<\/p>\n<p>The victory put Madrid back at the top of La Liga, level on points with Girona and four clear of Bar\u00e7a, who remain third in the table.<\/p>\n<p>Vin\u00edcius has repeatedly been the target of racist insults from opposition supporters in Spain, including last <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/week\/\"   title=\"week\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">week<\/a> when Madrid faced Sevilla.<\/p>\n<p>After that match, the Brazilian praised Sevilla for acting quickly after his expulsion and reported a fan to the authorities for racist insults.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no place for racist or hateful behavior in sports,\u201d the league said after that game.  \u201cLaLiga vehemently condemns any racist acts and will continue to work to eradicate this inexcusable behavior from our sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Vin\u00edcius gave evidence at the trial of three Valencia fans accused of racist abuse against him during a match at the end of last season.<\/p>\n<p>It was one of eight incidents documented and reported by La Liga during the 2022-23 campaign of racist abuse targeting Vin\u00edcius.<\/p>\n<p>Although the incident at the Mestalla stadium was the subject of a trial, in a number of cases local prosecutors chose not to file charges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LaLiga probing racial abuse aimed at Vinicius Jr. in Cl\u00e1sico\u060c Sam Marsden, Barcelona correspondentOctober 28, 2023, 8:45 p.m. LaLiga investigates racist abuse targeting Real Madrid striker Vin\u00edcius J\u00fanior during his team&#8217;s 2-1 win The classic defeat Barcelona at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday.
