In the meantime, he flayed England&#8217;s bowlers for a 61-ball century to set up an emphatic victory for <a href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/2196\/south-africa-to-probe-google-meta_id151699\/\">South Africa<\/a> at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.<\/p>\n<p>The brutality of Klaasen&#8217;s 109 from just 67 balls in total matched the harshness of the heat and humidity which had also left <a href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/2248\/england-must-be-ready-for\/\">England bowler David Willey cramping throughout South Africa&#8217;s<\/a> innings, ending on 399 for 7 and necessitating the second most successful run chase in ODI history.  . His face contorted from unbridled elation expressed directly to Mark Wood, to ultimate exhaustion and finally the realization of the undeniable enormity of the moment: this was not just his first century in <a href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/3850\/england-must-face-farewell-tour\/\">World Cup<\/a>, it was a century against the reigning champions in a World Cup.  This match against South Africa is considered a must-win match after their crushing defeat against the Netherlands earlier in the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/week\/\"   title=\"week\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As the emotions soaked in, Klaasen pulled himself together and waved to his teammates and the crowd, which included his wife and daughter, and to the sky.  Then he went straight to Wood to apologize, repeatedly.  Wood settled on a punch or three and Klaasen was able to reclaim his moment, but only until the next wave of weariness set in.
