Google Podcasts app closes Tuesday; Google recommends that users migrate to this app\u060c<\/p>\n

Back September<\/a>then in December<\/a>we told you to expect Google to shut down its Podcast app in April 2024. Guess what. According to Forbes<\/a>, this Tuesday, April 2, the previous reports will come true since the next day Google Podcast will go to that place where other Google applications, hardware and software end up disappearing. And just like the many other things that Google shuts down for seemingly no reason, the Podcast app<\/a> saw success reaching 500 million downloads exactly a year ago.<\/div>\n

The Google Podcast app in the United<\/a> States will disappear after April 2, and many users subscribed to certain podcasts will have to move to another podcast app. This is not a simple process and may expose some Google Podcast users to having their credentials stolen. In-app notifications were delivered to users of the Google Podcast app, reminding them that it would be closed after April 2 and reminding them to make contingency plans.<\/p>\n

The YouTube Music app is a place where Google Podcast users can go to continue listening to their favorite podcasts. Google says the YouTube Music app will be “a better overall destination for fans and podcasters with YouTube-only features in community, discovery, and audio-visual switching.” On a YouTube Support Page<\/a>Google explains how to move your Google Podcast subscriptions to YouTube Music:<\/div>\n

  • Visit the Google Podcasts app<\/li>\n
  • Select Export Subscriptions at the top of the screen.<\/li>\n
  • Select Export under \u201cExport to YouTube Music\u201d.<\/li>\n
  • Select Upload to the YouTube Music app<\/li>\n
  • Select Continue<\/li>\n
  • Select Go to Library to view your subscriptions once the transfer is complete.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    Things to keep in mind:<\/p>\n

    • It may take a few minutes to transfer your subscriptions, so hang in there!<\/li>\n
    • Not all podcasts will be available in YouTube Music and you may see a “Content is not available” message next to it if this is the case.<\/li>\n
    • If a podcast is missing from YouTube Music, you can save it to your library using the show's RSS feed link.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
