SAN ANTONIO \u2014 San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama will miss Monday's game against the Phoenix Suns with a sprained left ankle.<\/p>\n

No timetable for Wembanyama's return has been communicated.<\/p>\n

The 7-foot-3 French center was ruled out after participating in San Antonio's morning penalty shootout to test his ankle.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama was injured in Saturday's 131-106 loss to Phoenix. He did not play in the fourth quarter when the Suns led by 32 points.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and one blocked shot in 21 minutes against Phoenix.<\/p>\n

The No. 1 pick in last year's draft is averaging 20.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.4 blocks, 1.3 steals and 29 minutes.<\/p>\n

San Antonio is in danger of finishing with the worst record in franchise history despite Wembanyama being the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year.<\/p>\n

The Spurs (15-56) need to win<\/a> five of their final 11 games to avoid finishing below a franchise-worst record of 20-62 set in 1997.<\/p>\n
