Leaked internal T-Mobile document reveals limited time cut in activation fee starting today\u060c<\/p>\n

An intern T Mobile<\/span> document obtained by The mobile report<\/a> shows that T-Mobile's “device connection fees,” a controversial fee subscribers pay when they upgrade their phones or activate new lines, are being reduced for a limited time for new customers. These fees also have their critics, who consider it a tricky way for the operator (and other mobile companies that also impose such fees) to collect additional revenue from their customers.<\/div>\n
From today, Friday March 8, T Mobile<\/span> reduces the \u201cdevice connection fee\u201d on newly purchased lines to just $5, which is a reduction of $30. The document states that the reduced fees will be automatically applied to transactions made online, in-store or through support. And although the reduced $5 fee starts today, T-Mobile lists the end date as TBD, meaning “To Be Announced.” In other words, until T Mobile<\/span> announces the contrary, the reduction will remain in effect.<\/div>\n

Keep in mind that if you're upgrading a phone on an existing line, you don't get the discount and will have to pay the $35 “device connection fee.” The good news is that the $5 promotional fee will apply to each new line, regardless of how many are added. So if you have a family of five moving T Mobile<\/span>they'll save $150 and pay a total of just $25 for “device connection fees.” <\/p>\n

Discount applies when a new or existing T Mobile<\/span> the customer activates on a new line a telephone purchased via the equipment installment plan or a device brought to T Mobile<\/span> by a new customer. The same rules apply to new lines purchased by T Mobile<\/span> for Business subscribers.<\/p>\n

The promotion is designed to encourage consumers to consider switching to T Mobile<\/span> come off the fence and act now.
