Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International is arguably the best-known and most accurate Apple analyst on the market. Who can ever forget the incredible report he published on the “revolutionary” front camera of what turned out to be the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, Kuo knew the screen. sizes for three and mentioned how the iPhone X would use facial recognition instead of Touch ID<\/a> to unlock the device (keep in mind that the iPhone X was known at the time as the iPhone 8).<\/div>\n
In an article on “X” today, Kuo wrote: “Recently, I have received many inquiries about whether Apple plans to mass produce the iPhone or foldable iPad in 2025 or 2026. My latest investigation indicates that currently Apple's only foldable product with a clear development schedule is the 20.3-inch MacBook, which is expected to enter mass production in 2027.” The 20.3-inch screen mentioned by Kuo would apparently have the size of the internal screen with the foldable device fully open. Kuo doesn't mention anything else about the device.<\/div>\n

Given that Kuo points out that the foldable MacBook is the only foldable for which Apple has a “clear development schedule,” it would seem that those dreaming of a foldable iPhone or iPad are about to wake up to a nightmare. The most recent rumors called for Apple to develop a foldable clamshell iPhone. Last month, Apple reportedly halted development of a foldable iPhone due to concerns about the durability and utility of such a device.<\/div>\n

Apple's fears were rightly revealed when a foldable display supplied by Samsung<\/a> and used in a foldable iPhone prototype “failed after a few days” of extensive testing by Apple. Concerns about the durability of a foldable iPhone reportedly led Apple to consider a foldable iPad, as such a device would not be slipped into the user's pocket and such a device would also be thicker.
