And could the Fold 6 Ultra bring something that the classic Fold 6 won't? Let's talk about it!

Of course, keep in mind that everything I talk about here is based on leaks and rumors, as neither of these two phones have been released yet.

What would make the Z Fold 6 Ultra “special”?

S Pen slot: to the delight of some Samsung fans?

<picture style="padding-top: 56.25%"></picture>

The Galaxy Fold 5 with its S Pen

There's plenty of room for eye-widening specs, so potential Z-fold 6 Ultra becomes attractive. On the one hand, many Samsung fans wanted an S Pen slot (opinions differ on the subject), just like, for example, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, the current foldable flagship, the Fold 5, doesn't have room in its body for the stylus.

This is potentially an area where Samsung could go to increase the value of the Ultra Fold 6 compared to the “regular” Fold. I'll talk about the downsides of this scenario later.

Now let's move on to:

Camera: will the 200MP blow you away?

Another area where potential improvements could be found is with the camera. So far, Samsung's foldable devices don't come with ultra-grade cameras (like a 200 MP main sensor, for example), and this is another option Samsung could use to make the Z-fold 6 Ultra catchy.

Previously, the world of rumors believed that Z-fold 6 could come with the S24 Ultra's 200 MP main camera. However, these rumors were later contradicted by reports that the Fold 6 would have a 50 MP main camera like that of the “regular” S24.

Now here's a variation! Usually rumors and leaks are correct or incorrect. However, with the recent development and potential Fold 6 Ultra, this rumor might end up being incorrect. And correct at the same time. Yes, the standard Fold might indeed have a 50 MP camera, but the Ultra… might get the rumored 200 MP one.

This actually makes a lot of sense: the camera is one of the main differentiators between regular phones and Ultra or Pro-branded phones. And this approach is not just reserved for Samsung! Apple does it too (Pro iPhones have better cameras than regular devices), as does almost every other phone maker.

If the Z-fold 6 Ultra exists, it will almost certainly sport a better camera to differentiate itself.

THE Z-fold 6 its predecessor, the Fold 5, comes with a 50MP main camera. Let's look at some sample images to see how much improvement potential there is. Z-fold 6 The Ultra camera can provide:

One main thing you'll probably notice is the more natural colors of the Galaxy S24 Ultraand that's thanks to Samsung's new approach to colors (which may or may not be carried over to the Fold 6 as well, so I won't focus on it too much here).

The Fold 5 has a bit more sharpness compared to the S24 Ultra's photos. But overall, it's not too bad – it's not Ultra quality either.

The Fold 5 has more difficulty in low light. Noise reduction can sometimes wash out some details (like on faces), while light sources can make it difficult to use the phone. On the other hand, the S24 Ultra with its 200MP sensor manages to blend in less with light sources and retain more details in the dark part of the image.

Overall, you get my point. If Samsung goes for an Ultra Fold 6, it will definitely need to equip the phone with a better camera – hopefully the S24 Ultra camera system. It is not excluded that other cameras will also get a boost, not just the main one.

After all, the Fold 6 only has three cameras on the back (50MP main + 10MP zoom + 12MP ultra-wide), while the S24 Ultra sports four (200MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, 10MP zoom camera for 3x zoom camera, 50MP). for 5x).

Battery: Could a larger Fold 6 Ultra pack a 5,000mAh battery cell?

Rumors say the Fold 6 could bring battery improvements over the Fold 5 (4,600 mAh battery against 4,400 mAh). The fact that the Fold has to be as thin as it could be (after all, it's a foldable and it's already thick because… you know… it folds) somehow prevents Samsung from install a larger battery.

The phone isn't the worst in terms of battery life, but there's always room for improvement, right?

So, if a Z-fold 6 Ultra could be allowed to be a bit thicker (and have an S Pen slot inside), this could potentially mean it could get more battery too. Of course, none of this is confirmed, so don't get your hopes up just yet.

Potential downsides: Will a Fold 6 Ultra be too expensive for most people?

I can see some downsides in all the improvements I've listed for a potential Fold 6 Ultra. The first is the most important: how much will such a beast cost?

<picture style="padding-top: 61.171875%"><img decoding="async" src="https://wikidollar.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/1709306208_58_What-could-a-Galaxy-Fold-6-Ultra-bring-that-the.jpg" alt="What about the potential price of the Z Fold 6 Ultra? With a better camera and whatever else Samsung decides to give it to stand out, it's hard to imagine that the price difference between the regular Fold and an Ultra variant is only $50 or something.

A price difference of at least $100 will likely be on the table. Or more! If you look at the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra, we have the former starting at $999.99 and the latter starting at $1,299.99. That's a $300 difference. As for the classic S24 and the Ultra: we have a $500 price difference.

The price could depend on whether Samsung considers the “regular” Fold 6 a “vanilla” phone or a “Plus” phone, compared to the Fold 6 Ultra. So, either the Ultra could cost around $2,099 (if the “classic” Fold 6 remains the same price as the Fold 5 – $1,799), or up to $2,299! Of course, this is just speculation, so keep that in mind.

Additionally, I want to quickly address the possibility of a Fold 6 Ultra being a larger or bulkier device. If Samsung puts an S Pen slot and a bigger battery in the phone, this will definitely be the case. Which could potentially hamper its portability.

But I tend to believe that a foldable phone, no matter how thin it is, will always be more bulky than a regular phone. And anyway, people love big phones these days (it's becoming almost impossible to carry a regular phone in your pocket!). So maybe a little more volume wouldn't hurt for what you get.

Overall, you see that a Galaxy Fold 6 Ultra looks quite promising, and it's very exciting to see if this rumor ends up being true.
