Nothing Phone (2a) shows up like a superstar (but doesn’t reveal all)\u060c<\/p>\n

Nothing has just taken the opportunity to \u201cunveil\u201d the Nothing Phone (2a) at the ongoing MWC event in Barcelona. Well, sort of \u2013 sort of. On a cool night out at one of the city's charming restaurants, the Nothing Phone (2a) arrived like a superstar, fashionable and out of reach.<\/p>\n

It came in glass boxes, which fully showed us the design of the phone's back, its own Glyph lights, and not much else. So every little teaser the company has shown so far has been right in front of us \u2013 in the flesh\u2026 or whatever material it's made of, of course.<\/p>\n

A completely flat clear glass back reveals the Glyph's light interface, and the bottom lets us peek at some elegantly arranged interiors. There's a red square on the right side, just below the camera<\/a>, but it doesn't seem to do much at the moment. The Glyph lights around the camera have been set to flash in sync with the reveal music, a much-anticipated touch.<\/div>\n

And of course we have the dual camera on the back positioned horizontally. With the circular glyph around them, they can sort of look like the eyes of a cartoon circular head. Was this the inspiration behind the \u201cFresh eye\u201d marketing moniker that Nothing uses for this reveal? Maybe, just maybe, we'll see.<\/p>\n

And no, we haven't been able to see it face-on, touch it, or learn anything from what we already know about its specifications \u2014 nothing is concrete… and the Nothing (2a) is for the moment behind a concrete wall.<\/p>\n

The Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to be a more affordable offering from the company, priced lower than the current flagship, the Nothing Phone (2). What we do know is that it will be powered by a specially designed MediaTek 7200 Pro<\/a>. The full reveal will take place on March 5, as the company has already announced.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Then we'll be able to see the screen, the software, learn about the specs… and, well, run it through our tests and benchmarks! Additionally, we're curious if this Glyph has a timer like the Nothing Phone (2a) and if it can still use a limited version of the Glyph composer – the Phone (2) has a ton of lights on the back to to play with, while it appears that the Nothing Phone (2a) only has all three.<\/p>\n

Well, actually, Nothing wasn't promising some sort of “unboxing” that would go live tomorrow… We wouldn't be surprised if this was another cheeky post from them, but here's the announcement if you are curious:
As a reminder, the current lineup has the Nothing Phone (2) as its flagship, and the Nothing Phone (1) is still sold as a mid-range option at a lower price. The latter is sold in limited markets and is starting to become long. We suspect, and wouldn't be surprised, that the Nothing Phone (2a) will phase it out with its newer hardware and a new take on the mid-range formula.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
