This reduces current leakage, improves drive current and can help reduce power consumption.

Chris Bergey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Arm Inc., said: “Our long-standing collaboration with Samsung has delivered cutting-edge innovation across generations. The optimization of Cortex-X and Cortex-A processors on the latest Samsung process node underlines our joint commitment. our vision is to redefine what's possible in mobile computing, and we look forward to continuing to push the boundaries to meet the relentless demands for performance and efficiency of the AI era.

Cortex-X cores are designed and built for one thing: performance. Cortex-A cores are more balanced as they seek to optimize performance with power consumption. Custom versions of Arm's Cortex-X and Cortex-A cores for Samsung Foundry's 2nm process node could debut on the latter's first-generation 2nm production node, called SF2, which is expected to launch next year. It's unclear whether custom cores will continue to be used with Samsung Foundry's second-generation 2nm node, known as SF2P.

<picture style="padding-top: 97.641509433962%"></picture>

Powerful Arm Cortex-A720 processor core

Jongwook Kye, Executive Vice President and Head of Foundry Design Platform Development at Samsung Electronics, said: “As we enter the AI generation era, we are excited to expand our partnership with Arm to deliver the next generation of Cortex-X processors, enabling our customers to create innovative products.
