{"id":27191,"date":"2024-02-23T00:07:10","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T21:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/27191\/lsu-fined-for-court-storming\/"},"modified":"2024-02-23T00:07:11","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T21:07:11","slug":"lsu-fined-for-court-storming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/?p=27191","title":{"rendered":"LSU fined for court storming vs. Kentucky, per SEC policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LSU fined for court storming vs. Kentucky, per SEC policy\u060c<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>BIRMINGHAM, Ala. &#8211; The Southeastern Conference fined LSU $100,000 for fans who rushed the field after the Tigers&#39; win over No. 17 Kentucky, the league announced Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrell Ward&#39;s basket as time expired gave LSU a 75-74 victory Wednesday night and ignited the onslaught on the court.<\/p>\n<p>The safety risks associated with on-field assaults received more attention this season after Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark collided with a fan while leaving the Ohio State field after that the Buckeyes beat the Hawkeyes.<\/p>\n<p>LSU was fined under the SEC&#39;s revised Competitive Space Access Policy.  The policy states that access to playing surfaces is limited at all times to athletes, coaches, officials, support staff and duly accredited or authorized individuals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the safety of participants and spectators, at no time before, during or after a competition may spectators enter the competition area,\u201d the policy states.<\/p>\n<p>Fines are $100,000 for a first offense, $250,000 for a second offense and $500,000 for a third and subsequent offenses.<\/p>\n<p>For conference games, fines are paid to the opposing institution.
