The left-back was also substituted at half-time in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa a <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/week\/\"   title=\"week\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">week<\/a> earlier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Stream on ESPN+: LaLiga, Bundesliga, more (US)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After undergoing medicals this week, there are fears Shaw&#39;s leg injury could rule him out for months rather than weeks, with the 28-year-old now facing a battle to return before the end of the campaign .<\/p>\n<p>The club released a statement on Tuesday saying: &#8220;Luke Shaw has suffered a muscle injury and will be out for an extended period. Further assessment is still required to determine the severity, but we expect him to be out for a few months. month.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A prolonged absence would also leave Shaw doubtful ahead of England&#39;s campaign at this summer&#39;s European Championships in Germany.  It is another blow for <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/united\/\"   title=\"United\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">United<\/a> coach Erik ten Hag, who is also without his central defender Lisandro Mart\u00ednez.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutchman is short on options at left-back while Tyrell Malacia is recovering from a knee injury which has kept the 24-year-old out this season.  Sergio Reguil\u00f3n was loaned from Tottenham as cover, but his temporary spell was cut short in January and has since joined Brentford.<\/p>\n<p>Center back Victor Lindel\u00f6f and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat have been used as emergency options at left back this season, while Diogo Dalot has also filled in.<\/p>\n<p>Shaw has been limited to just 15 appearances this season after missing three months between August and November with a leg injury.<\/p>\n<p>United are on a five-game winning run and are back in action against Fulham at Old Trafford on Saturday.
