On February 6, 2024, we released an exclusive render of the Nothing Phone (2a), a mid-range smartphone expected to debut at Mobile World Congress 2024. We obtained the render from one of the most trusted tipsters industry, Steve. H. McFly, or @OnLeaks<\/a>for those who followed him on Twitter.<\/p>\n The render showed how the phone could have a dual camera<\/a> setup on the top left and ditch the Glyph Lights overall. However, a new tipster update suggests that the rendering was ultimately incorrect.<\/p>\n Shortly after the story was published, it sparked a conversation among enthusiasts and potential buyers. In our previous article on the Internet's reaction<\/a> to the Phone (2a) press release, we mentioned that well-known tipster Evan Blass had a different view. He noted that the rendering was not “from Foxconn” and pointed out that the slogan better matches one of the previous renderings. <\/p>\n I would be quite skeptical about this so-called last-minute overhaul, for two reasons. First, this is not standard CAD-based software from Foxconn. @onleaks<\/a> leak, so its usual precision is not applicable. \u2013 Evan Blass (@evleaks) February 6, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n This made us curious and we sought to double-check our sources. Turns out we discovered that the source had provided Steve with manipulated renders.<\/p>\n The image in the published rendering is of a Nothing smartphone that was never released; hence, the render of the phone did not appear on the internet either. However, the source claimed that it belonged to the unreleased phone (2a). In fact, the phone's render can also be seen in one of Nothing's official videos.<\/p>\n Last but not least, we also discovered that the furnished rendering is different from the Nothing teaser posted on its social platforms. Therefore, we conclude that the Phone (2a) rendering we published a few days ago was in fact inaccurate.<\/p>\n Smartprix has always strived to provide correct information to its readers, just like Steve, whose leaks and tips are highly appreciated in the industry. However, it is our responsibility to accept if something does not meet these ideals.
