This is one of the reasons why companies like Epic have filed lawsuits to try to end the monopoly that Apple imposes on the iOS <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/app\/\"   title=\"app\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">app<\/a> market.<\/p>\n<p>Starting this year, things are likely to change, at least in parts of Europe.  Thanks to the effects of the Digital Markets Act, Apple may be forced to prevent other companies from selling digital goods and services through their own official channels rather than through the App Store.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2024-01-24\/the-dma-means-a-better-spotify-for-artists-creators-and-you\/\" class=\"external\">announcement<\/a> earlier today he was planning to take the first step towards \u201cindependence\u201d in just a few months.  With the DMA rolling out on March 7, Spotify users in the European Union (EU) will be able to make in-app purchases directly from the app.<\/p>\n<div id=\"gallery-5c048837-2931-45bf-9bda-03a00ce42671\" class=\"single-image-container  image-c\" style=\"width:885px;max-width:100%\">\n<div class=\"gallery-item\">\n<picture style=\"padding-top: 99.661016949153%\"><source media=\"(max-width: 350px)\" ><source media=\"(min-width: 351px) and (max-width: 500px)\" ><source media=\"(min-width: 501px) and (max-width: 800px)\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Spotify-to-add-in-app-payment-functionality-to-circumvent-Apples-30.jpg\" alt=\"Spotify to add in-app payment feature to bypass Apple&#39;s 30% fee\"\/><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/picture>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to the streaming company, \u201c<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Apple had these rules where we couldn&#39;t tell you about deals, how much something cost, or even where or how to buy it.<\/span>.\u201d  On March 7, Spotify will be able to share details about offers, promotions and more advantageous payment options in the EU. <\/p>\n<p>More importantly, Spotify mentions that it will no longer have to pay the mandatory 30% tax imposed by Apple since it is prohibited by the DMA. <\/p>\n<p>Apple has not yet reacted to the DMA, but it is required to comply with the law if it wants to continue operating in the European area. <\/p>\n<p>That being said, if you&#39;re in the European Union, you&#39;ll soon be able to purchase a Premium subscription or audiobook (or even upgrade your plan) with just a few clicks.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spotify to add in-app payment functionality to circumvent Apple\u2019s 30% fee\u060c Spotify, like many other services that sell subscription-based products, does the entire payment process through Apple if they want their products to reach iOS users.
