Meta has made many concessions to be able to continue operating throughout the European continent, such as adding the possibility of using Instagram and Facebook for free with advertisements, or subscribing to no longer see advertisements. <\/p>\n
Starting this month, Instagram and Facebook users in the EU, EEA and Switzerland will be offered additional choices on how they manage their accounts on Meta's social apps.<\/p>\n
These new choices are offered \u00bbto meet the requirements of the DMA, which comes into force in March 2024<\/span>“, says Meta in a Press release<\/a>. In the coming weeks, those who use Meta's social apps, specifically Facebook, Instagram and Messenger, will be informed about their ability to choose whether they want to share information between apps if they have multiple accounts.<\/p>\n For example, users who have linked their Instagram and Facebook accounts will be able to unlink them and manage them separately, or they can choose to continue connecting their accounts through the Meta Account Center so that their information is used across both accounts.<\/p>\n Additionally, Messenger users can choose whether they want to continue using the app<\/a> with their Facebook accounts or whether they want to create a new standalone Messenger account. Those who choose the latter will be able to use the app's basic service, including private messaging and chat, voice and video<\/a> calls.<\/p>\n Meta revealed that those who play games on Facebook can choose between a gaming experience that uses their Facebook information or one without it.
