Britain's Cameron Norrie scored the biggest major victory of his career on Saturday, reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time with an impressive 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 6- 4, 6-3 against the Norwegian. Casper Ruud.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, it\u2019s so special,\u201d Norrie said. \u201cI had to play very bravely and almost won that second set, but I didn't let it bother me and it was a good mental performance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Norrie, the only British player remaining in either singles draw, won the first set with a superb serve. Ruud won the second set with a tiebreak, but Norrie came back from a break to 3-2 in the next set.<\/p>\n
A commanding final set from Norrie gave him a memorable victory over Ruud, who he had yet to beat in his previous three attempts.<\/p>\n
\u201cI stuck to my game plan and was successful,\u201d added Norrie. \u201cI worked hard in the offseason to be a little more aggressive and I succeeded.\u201d<\/p>\n
