Take the global smartphone market as an example, which declined 1% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2023. On the other hand, if we look at the numbers on a sequential basis from the second to third quarters, global shipments of smartphones increased by a double-digit percentage.  .  During the quarter, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/galaxy\/\"   title=\"Samsung\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Samsung<\/a> launched the new iterations of its foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Even with the new models shipping in August, Sammy&#8217;s global smartphone market share declined by 22%. % to 20% on an annual basis.  .<\/div>\n<div>Apple moved within a percentage point of Samsung as its global smartphone market share declined from 18% in the third quarter of last year to the 17% of the global smartphone pie it held as of third quarter of this year.  The third calendar quarter is usually an important quarter for Apple since that&#8217;s when it starts shipping the latest <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/iphone\/\"   title=\"iPhone\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">iPhone<\/a> series. The only individual brand among the top five to show a solid year-over-year third-quarter shipment increase was TRANSSION.  The company saw its share increase by 50%, from 6% to 9%, even though it was starting from a smaller base. <\/p>\n<div>Amber Liu, analyst at Canalys, said: \u201cNew launches from Huawei and Apple electrified the market this quarter, overshadowing flagship series renewals from many other vendors.  Huawei&#8217;s new Mate series, featuring the latest Kirin chipset, has received an enthusiastic response from consumers in mainland China.  Operators are rushing to stock up on Huawei devices to meet growing demand.  \u00bb<\/div>\n<div>Liu added: \u201cMeanwhile, Apple is strengthening its new iPhone 15 series with significantly improved performance and features to continually drive demand.  On the other hand, while Samsung reduces its exposure in the entry-level segment to focus on profitability, Xiaomi and TRANSSION have quickly capitalized on the rebound in emerging markets with competitive products and channel commitments.
