As we discussed last week, Google<\/a> is changing its philosophy, which means that in 2024, some people will lose their jobs at Google.<\/p>\n Now the search engine giant is putting its philosophy into practice, as Google CEO Sundar Pichai tells employees to expect more job cuts this year (via The edge<\/a>).<\/p>\n The report states that Google has laid off more than a thousand employees across various departments since January 10. There is an alleged internal memo that the CEO Sundar Pichai<\/span> sent to all employees \u2013 and the message is to prepare for further cuts.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have ambitious goals and will invest in our top priorities this year. The reality is that to create the capacity for this investment, we must make difficult choices,\u201d the memo says.<\/p>\n Pichai assured that the job cuts coming in 2024 will not be \u201con the scale of last year\u2019s reductions and will not affect all teams\u201d.<\/p>\n To explain further, the 2024 layoffs are intended to \u201cremove layers to simplify execution and increase speed in certain areas.\u201d <\/p>\n This is by no means shocking news, after massive layoffs in recent years at Meta, Amazon and other giants. Even Twitch is not ignoring the trend: one in three employees will leave, while the streaming giant is preparing to lay off nearly 35% of its workforce.<\/p>\n
