{"id":19164,"date":"2024-01-11T04:20:14","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T01:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/19164\/guenther-steiner-makes-shock-haas\/"},"modified":"2024-01-11T04:20:14","modified_gmt":"2024-01-11T01:20:14","slug":"guenther-steiner-makes-shock-haas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/?p=19164","title":{"rendered":"Guenther Steiner makes shock Haas F1 departure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Guenther Steiner makes shock Haas F1 departure\u060c<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Guenther Steiner, popular star of the Formula 1 docuseries Drive to Survive, has left Haas after eight seasons in charge of the American team.<\/p>\n<p>Steiner had led Gene Haas&#39; team since joining the championship in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Unlapped: How to listen or watch the new ESPN F1 show, episode archives, and more<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Italian, who has become a cult figure in F1 in recent years thanks to his outspokenness and frankness, left Haas after Haas&#39; last-place finish in the constructors&#39; championship last season.<\/p>\n<p>Technical director Simone Resta, who joined Ferrari in 2021, also left the team.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#39;s Ayao Komatsu has been promoted to director of track engineering to replace Steiner, meaning 2024 will be his first time in charge of an F1 team.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline inline-photo full\">\n<figure><picture><source data- media=\"(min-width: 376px)\"><source data- media=\"(max-width: 375px)\"><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/><\/source><\/source><\/picture><figcaption class=\"photoCaption\">Guenther Steiner had been the Haas team principal since joining the F1 grid in 2016. <cite>ANP via Getty Images<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Team owner Gene Haas said he views Komatsu&#39;s experience as key to reviving the team&#39;s competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/start\/\"   title=\"start\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">start<\/a> by thanking Guenther Steiner for all his hard work over the past decade and wish him good luck for the future,\u201d said the team owner.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline editorial float-r\" data-behavior=\"article_related\">\n<h2 class=\"editorial-title\">Editor&#39;s Choice<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cTo move forward as an organization, it was clear that we needed to improve our on-track performance. By appointing Ayao Komatsu, we fundamentally placed engineering at the heart of our management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have had some successes, but we need to be consistent in delivering results that help us achieve our broader goals as an organization.  We must be efficient with the resources we have, but improving our design and engineering capabilities is key to our success as a team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to working with Ayao and fundamentally ensuring that we maximize our potential. It really reflects my desire to compete properly in Formula 1.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haas will soon appoint a European-based operations director to assist Komatsu, whose team said in a statement Tuesday will &#8220;assume responsibility for the team&#39;s overall strategy and, ultimately, on-track performance , with the mission of maximizing performance.\u201d  team potential through employee empowerment, structural processes and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Komatsu was a long-time racing engineer for Romain Grosjean, first at Lotus, before following the Frenchman to Haas when he joined the start-up team in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The Japan native began his career as a tire engineer at British American Racing (BAR) in 2003, before joining Renault (later Lotus) in 2005.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guenther Steiner makes shock Haas F1 departure\u060c Guenther Steiner, popular star of the Formula 1 docuseries Drive to Survive, has left Haas after eight seasons in charge of the American team.
