{"id":18231,"date":"2024-01-05T19:18:32","date_gmt":"2024-01-05T16:18:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/18231\/court-clears-maradona-of-tax\/"},"modified":"2024-01-05T19:18:33","modified_gmt":"2024-01-05T16:18:33","slug":"court-clears-maradona-of-tax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/?p=18231","title":{"rendered":"Court clears Maradona of tax evasion years after his death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Court clears Maradona of tax evasion years after his death\u060c<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Italy&#39;s top court has cleared Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona of tax evasion charges, ending a 30-year legal battle between the former Napoli striker and tax authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Maradona was accused of using agent companies in Liechtenstein to avoid legal fees when he received payments between 1985 and 1990 from the Italian club for his personal image rights.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Stream on ESPN+: LaLiga, Bundesliga, more (US)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is over and I can clearly state, without fear of contradiction, that Maradona was never a tax evader,\u201d his lawyer, Angelo Pisani, told Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Rome&#39;s Court of Cassation overturned a 2018 verdict in December, according to a court document published on Wednesday and seen by Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>Maradona died in November 2020 of a heart attack.
