One of the most important privacy features abandoned in 2022 was Apple&#39;s App Tracking Transparency (ATT), which gave users the ability to block apps from accessing their activities and data without consent ( for real).  This very feature can help you free yourself from advertisers linking you to your activities to present targeted advertisements and here is how you can enable it.<\/p>\n<h2>What is Application Tracking Transparency (ATT)?<\/h2>\n<p>Apple introduced ATT at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2020, followed by a rollout in iOS 14.5.  With this, the goal was to increase transparency and privacy on iPhones.  The feature works by preventing apps from tracking user activity and data.  The Cupertino-based giant blocks apps from accessing identifiers that link users to their online activities and are used to serve targeted ads.<\/p>\n<h2>How to enable ATT on your iPhone to stop apps from spying on you?<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>As promised, here is the step-by-step guide you can use to stop apps from spying on you for real.<\/p>\n<h3>On newly installed apps<\/h3>\n<p>Once you install a new <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/app\/\"   title=\"app\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">app<\/a>, you should receive a prompt saying &#8220;Allow X to track your activity on other companies&#39; apps and websites?&#8221;  .  You need to select \u201cAsk the app not to track\u201d and guess what, it won\u2019t be able to track you at least to some extent (we\u2019ll get to that later). <\/p>\n<p><strong>Alternately,<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to <strong>Settings <\/strong>on your <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/iphone\/\"   title=\"iPhone\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">iPhone<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>To proceed to <strong>\u201cPrivacy and Security >> Tracking\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>To fall over <strong>\u201cAllow apps to request tracking\u201d<\/strong> to turn it off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The movie means that none of the apps will be able to ask you if they can track you or not.  These prompts will be automatically blocked and therefore no follow-up.  All other apps on your iPhone will be included in this list, except those for which you have explicitly agreed to share access.<\/p>\n<h3>On applications already downloaded<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>This particular guide works on apps that you have already downloaded and used.<\/li>\n<li>First, unlock your iPhone and proceed to <strong>&#39;Settings&#39;.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Move towards<strong> \u201cPrivacy and Security >> Tracking\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You will get a list of apps that have asked to track you and show targeted ads, etc. <\/li>\n<li>Simply <strong>press the toggle<\/strong> against these applications to activate ATT.<\/li>\n<li>If you receive a prompt, agree to enable ATT once and for all.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Does this mean you will never be followed?<\/h2>\n<p>Unfortunately, the answer is no.  There are many ways for app developers to target users.  This feature blocks the application&#39;s access to a unique identifier called IDFA.  Depending on the application you use, you may be exposed to advertisements from other sources.
