The former Carolina Panthers writer for the Charlotte Observer won the APSE award for recent news and the South Carolina Press Association Award.  for business writing in 2018.<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Miami Dolphins passer Bradley Chubb suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during Sunday&#39;s 56-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, ending his season, coach Mike announced Monday McDaniel.<\/p>\n<p>Chubb suffered a non-contact injury late in the fourth quarter Sunday and was returned to the locker room shortly afterward.  He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the match.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that Chubb and the Dolphins&#39; defensive starters were on the field during a blowout loss drew immediate criticism from fans on social media.  McDaniel, in his second year at the helm, expressed regret in hindsight Sunday when asked about the decision to keep his starters when the game was all but decided.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline inline-photo full\">\n<figure><picture><source data- media=\"(min-width: 376px)\"><source data- media=\"(max-width: 375px)\"><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/><\/source><\/source><\/picture><figcaption class=\"photoCaption\">Bradley Chubb, who leads the Dolphins with 11 sacks this season, suffered a torn ACL during Miami&#39;s blowout loss to the Ravens on Sunday. <cite>Getty Images<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>&#8220;I mean, looking back, I definitely wouldn&#39;t have wanted him there if I knew he was going to be hurt. &#8230; That doesn&#39;t seem very smart at all,&#8221; did he declare.  The players wanted to come back and play and finish in the right way before next <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/week\/\"   title=\"week\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">week<\/a>. And I have the opportunity to tell them no on everything in this situation. There are a lot of decisions that I will cross-examine. The intention is always helpful. And I said the guys who went there wanted to be there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like a time machine, that\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chubb, a three-time <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/pro\/\"   title=\"Pro\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Pro<\/a> Bowl selection, leads the Dolphins with 11 sacks this season and took on a larger role after linebacker Jaelan Phillips tore an Achilles tendon in Week 12. Behind him is find Andrew Van Ginkel, Melvin Ingram and Emmanuel Ogbah, who was inactive for Sunday&#39;s game.<\/p>\n<p>McDaniel suggested Monday that the Dolphins would scour the free agent market while maintaining confidence in players already on the Dolphins roster.<\/p>\n<p>Chubb has now suffered torn ACLs in both knees during his six-year NFL career.  The former first-round pick tore the ACL in his left knee in 2019 while playing for the Denver Broncos.  Chubb also tore his left ACL in high school.<\/p>\n<p>The Dolphins traded a first-round pick to Denver for Chubb at last season&#39;s trade deadline, immediately signing him to a five-year, $110 million contract extension after acquiring him.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline editorial float-r\" data-behavior=\"article_related\">\n<h2 class=\"editorial-title\">Editor&#39;s Choice<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Dolphins-lose-pass-rusher-Bradley-Chubb-to-torn-ACL.jpg&#038;w=130&#038;h=130&#038;scale=crop&#038;location=center.jpeg\" width=\"65\" height=\"65\"\/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/aside>\n<p>McDaniel also said Monday that he does not expect cornerback Xavien Howard, who left Sunday&#39;s game with a foot injury, to need surgery, but McDaniel does not expect not that he participates in Sunday night&#39;s game against the Buffalo Bills which will determine the AFC East champion.  .  McDaniel described Howard as \u201cweek to week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Howard was injured in the first quarter, on Baltimore&#39;s first offensive drive.  He was taken to the locker room on a cart and ruled out after further examination.  The Ravens took advantage of his absence, with quarterback Lamar Jackson totaling 321 yards and five touchdowns, finishing with a perfect passer rating of 158.3.<\/p>\n<p>Howard, a 2022 Pro Bowler, played in 13 of Miami&#39;s 17 games this season, recording 45 tackles, 12 passes defended and one interception.<\/p>\n<p>McDaniel also said Monday he wasn&#39;t concerned about the health of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who left Sunday night with a shoulder injury.<\/p>\n<p>McDaniel said Tagovailoa&#39;s injury was &#8220;not a huge thing on my radar&#8221; Monday night.
