Samsung\u2019s \u2018Battery Protection\u2019 feature is expected with One UI 6.1, but it\u2019s already in One UI 6.0 (Spoiler: it doesn\u2019t work)\u060c<\/p>\n

You can call it \u201cProtect Battery\u201d or \u201cBattery Protection\u201d, the fact is that a battery protection mode is expected on One UI 6.1 in the coming weeks with the Galaxy S24 range.<\/p>\n

Previously we explained how it's designed to keep Galaxy handsets' battery healthy and now it turns out it's in One UI 6 with the latest fixes (via 9to5Google<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Spoiler: it doesn't seem to work. It's just there to be looked at.<\/p>\n

The settings are correctly visualized and you can toggle between options, but nothing happens according to Tarun tanks<\/a>who shares his experience with \u201cBattery Protection\u201d in an article on X\/Twitter:<\/p>\n

Enabling Battery Protection simply limits your battery to a maximum of 85% charge, an option that's been available for a while now, even present in Samsung's Android 13 update.<\/p>\n

If you want to check the new (non-working) feature, you can find it existing in the latest One UI 6.0 patches. The feature is accessible through apps that can manually launch app \u201cactivities.\u201d There are several ways to do this, such as with the app simply named “Activity Launcher,” but the activity you'll need to enable is listed as “BatteryProtectionActivity,” the report says.<\/p>\n

Once launched, the activity displays another menu with three options to choose from:<\/p>\n

  2. Adaptive<\/li>\n
  3. Maximum<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u201cBasic\u201d will only charge to 100% when the battery level drops to 95%, so if you are at 97% and plug in your phone, there will be no charging until it reaches 95%. . This will repeat until your phone is disconnected from the charger. This provides a basic level of protection for your battery.<\/p>\n

    \u201cAdaptive protection\u201d stops fast charging at 80% and slowly charges up to 100% overnight by the time you wake up (based on your usual phone usage habits): \u201cCharging will stop to 80% while you sleep and will finish charging at 100%. just before you wake up. This provides moderate protection for people who charge their phones overnight. Sleep time is estimated based on your phone usage habits.\u201d<\/p>\n

    \u201cMaximum Protection\u201d limits charging to 80%: \u201cYour battery will stop charging completely when it reaches 80% and will only resume if the battery level drops below 80%. This provides the best protection for your battery, but your tablet will never be charged. greater than 80%.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
