For my part, these were difficult times, with nervousness and anxiety .&#8221;<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline inline-photo full\">\n<figure><picture><source data- media=\"(min-width: 376px)\"><source data- media=\"(max-width: 375px)\"><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/><\/source><\/source><\/picture><figcaption class=\"photoCaption\">Aitana Bonmat\u00ed won the Ballon d&#8217;Or for her contribution to Spain&#8217;s success at the Women&#8217;s World Cup last summer. <cite>Fran Santiago\/Getty Images<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>The Spanish side had pushed for change at the RFEF in September 2022, when 15 players made themselves unavailable for selection until certain improvements were made.<\/p>\n<p>Only three of the fifteen returned from their voluntary exile to participate in the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Demands for better conditions for women re-emerged minutes after the final in Sydney due to Rubiales&#8217; inappropriate behavior.<\/p>\n<p>After Rubiales initially refused to resign over his conduct, 81 current and retired Spain internationals declared they would no longer play for the national team under his leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Even after his resignation and the dismissal of head coach Jorge Vilda, the players again demanded that important conditions be met.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey promised us changes,\u201d Bonmat\u00ed added.  &#8220;Some of them were created for and during the World Cup, but others were not. We felt that every time we received a call-up from the national team instead of taking advantage of it, we We were suffering. We wanted the same professional treatment that we receive in our respective clubs. The difference was very big.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, players, including Bonmat\u00ed, who reported for the Spain women&#8217;s national team did so despite being threatened with a fine or national ban if they did not report. not.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were forced by law to go somewhere we didn\u2019t want to go if certain changes didn\u2019t happen.\u201d  \u00bb said Bonmati.  \u201cI don\u2019t understand that there is a law that forces you to join the national team if at any point you don\u2019t feel right about doing so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spanish women&#8217;s professional <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/football\/\"   title=\"football\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">football<\/a> players called off their strike last month after reaching a minimum wage deal.<\/p>\n<p>The minimum annual salary established for this season is \u20ac21,000, which could increase up to \u20ac23,000 ($22,111) depending on the growth of commercial revenue from the competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe inequality is obvious,\u201d Bonmat\u00ed said.  \u201cWe don&#8217;t ask to be paid the same as men because we don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s obligatory that it be that way, but we want equal conditions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sometimes we go to the football fields and I ask myself &#8216;how can we play here?&#8217;  Our integrity as footballers is in danger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bonmat\u00ed, who is favorite to <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/win\/\"   title=\"win\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">win<\/a> the women&#8217;s Ballon d&#8217;Or, hopes Spain can improve and mirror the professional approach implemented in England.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is still a long way to go,\u201d Bonmat\u00ed said.  &#8220;We have a great example not far from home in England.
