Premiership Magpies forward Jack Ginnivan wants to stay at Collingwood and fight for his place in the forward line, according to Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph.<\/p>\n

The Pies pulled off one of the big moves of this year’s trade period, completing a deal with Fremantle to secure Lachie Schultz while also returning a future first rounder and Pick 34 to the Dockers.<\/p>\n

Since Schultz’s connection to the Pies emerged last week<\/a>, commentators and fans alike have wondered what this means for Ginnivan’s future, given that fellow small forwards Bobby Hill and Beau McCreery are top 22 permanent Collingwood players.<\/p>\n

While Ginnivan, who has signed up for next season, started on the field for last month’s Grand Final triumph over Brisbane, he has only played 14 games in 2023, five of which came as a starting substitute.<\/p>\n

But Collingwood football<\/a> boss Graham Wright said AFL Commercial Radio<\/i> On Monday night, the Pies \u201cdid not respond to any calls\u201d from their rivals about Ginnivan \u2013 nor did the club \u201cseek to respond to calls\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Fox Footy’s Trading day<\/i> On Monday night, Ralph said Ginnivan was determined to earn his place in Collingwood’s<\/a> starting lineup next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cJack is absolutely determined to stay \u2013 and I think that\u2019s fantastic,\u201d Ralph said. Trading day<\/i>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a top player, he\u2019s 20, he\u2019s got a lot to learn and he really wants to do it at the Pies. I love the attitude.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only question I would ask: Is there anything he can do to improve himself? He averaged 1.2 tackles per game \u2013 can he be an elite tackler?<\/p>\n

Kangaroo David King, a two-time premier, says the AFL world should not “purge” Ginnivan after the Magpies-Schultz swap.<\/p>\n
