When do you know when an excuse has run out? Is it when people all over the world lie about something over and over again and it ends up biting everyone? If so, we may have used the “my iPhone<\/a> alarm didn't go off” excuse far too often, as some people say. Reddit<\/a> complain that their alarms no longer ring. Fortunately, several fixes have been proposed, many of which work.<\/div>\n
As first reported TechRadar<\/a><\/span>iPhone user at large took to Reddit to ask if other users' alarms aren't going off properly. <\/div>\n

Has anyone else had issues with their alarms not going off in the morning like this? I usually set multiple alarms in sequence, as you can see in this picture. Only my 6:45am alarm actually went off and I woke up to find that my previous alarms had all remained “set” but had not sounded. None of these alarms are recurring, so they should not \u201creset\u201d after going off. I also didn't repeat any of the early alarms. Is this happening to anyone else? Apparently, this is an issue with iOS 17 and related to Apple's “Attention Aware” feature.<\/div>\n

High jacking because I fixed this problem. There is a feature called Attention Attention, and it doesn't work. You have to turn it off (in 2 settings locations, frustrating). It thinks you're looking at the phone when the alarm goes off, so it immediately silences it. This is ridiculous and has made me fall asleep at school several times. The physical alarm is by mail.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The feature uses the TrueDepth camera<\/a> to determine if you're paying attention to your iPhone and takes action accordingly. For example, if it detects that you're looking at your phone, it will reduce the volume of alerts because it assumes you're looking at the screen anyway.<\/p>\n

It seems that iPhones work iOS 17<\/span> Don't play the alarm sound when Attention Aware thinks the user is already awake. <\/p>\n

If you have encountered this issue, you may want to turn off Attention Aware by going to the Accessibility settings or the Face ID & Attention menu.<\/p>\n

If this doesn't work for you, you can try turning off sleep mode, spacing out alarms, and keeping the default alarm sound. <\/div>\n
