{"id":15091,"date":"2023-12-17T01:18:34","date_gmt":"2023-12-16T22:18:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/15091\/lockyer-stable-after-having-cardiac\/"},"modified":"2023-12-17T01:18:35","modified_gmt":"2023-12-16T22:18:35","slug":"lockyer-stable-after-having-cardiac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/?p=15091","title":{"rendered":"Lockyer &#8216;stable&#8217; after having cardiac arrest vs. Bournemouth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lockyer &#8216;stable&#8217; after having cardiac arrest vs. Bournemouth\u060c<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Luton Town have confirmed that defender and club captain Tom Lockyer is in a &#8220;stable&#8221; condition in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch during his team&#39;s match at Bournemouth.<\/p>\n<p>The Premier League match was abandoned on Saturday after Lockyer collapsed on the pitch after 59 minutes.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline inline-photo full\">\n<figure><picture><source data- media=\"(min-width: 376px)\"><source data- media=\"(max-width: 375px)\"><img class=\" lazyload lazyload\" data-image-container=\".inline-photo\" height=\"320\" width=\"570\"\/><\/source><\/source><\/picture><figcaption class=\"photoCaption\">Rob Edwards immediately ran onto the field to ensure medical attention got to Lockyer quickly. <cite>Photo by Steven Paston\/PA Images via Getty Images<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>According to the club, the defender became reactive before being sent off the field.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur medical team has confirmed that the Hatters captain suffered a cardiac arrest on the field, but was responsive by the time he was carried off on the stretcher,\u201d the club said in a statement on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe received further treatment inside the stadium, for which we once again thank the medical teams on both sides.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTom has been transferred to hospital, where we can reassure our supporters that he is stable and is currently undergoing further tests with his family at his bedside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The score was 1-1 when Lockyer fell to the ground with no other players near him.  Luton players and manager Rob Edwards immediately responded to seek medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>Both teams left the field six minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>Lockyer, 29, was carried off on a stretcher to cheers from the crowd after the players went to the locker room, and the stadium announcer then informed the crowd that the match had been abandoned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Premier League match between Bournemouth and Luton has been abandoned due to a medical incident with a player,\u201d the official Premier League account posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts are with Tom Lockyer and all the players involved in today\u2019s match.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luton previously released a separate statement on X, praising the medical staff involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not know the extent of what has happened or what the next steps are at this stage, but we thank Bournemouth and the medical staff on both sides for their immediate response, which has been absolutely incredible,\u201d the statement said. communicated.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are sorry to all the fans present that the players from both teams were not in the right frame of mind to continue the match after seeing their beloved teammate and friend leave like this, and that the staff did not could not continue to manage the match in this way. circumstances having had to deal with the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thank everyone for the wonderful applause and chanting of Locks\u2019 name inside the stadium at such a difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both teams came out to thank their supporters and the Luton players were applauded by the home fans, with Edwards visibly emotional as he walked around the pitch.<\/p>\n<p>Bournemouth also wrote about X after the abandonment, saying: \u201cWe are relieved to hear that Tom is responding.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our thoughts will continue to be with Tom and his family at this time. We would like to thank all the medical staff for their quick action as well as everyone in the stadium for their support and unity during this difficult time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lockyer had already collapsed during Luton&#39;s final victory over Coventry City at Wembley on May 27.
