Widely considered until recently the poor man's smartwatches (literally and figuratively), fitness trackers have come a long way in recent years in terms of design and functionality.<\/p>\n

High-end models like the Fitbit Charge 6, for example, feature stunning color touchscreens while supporting a number of “essential” Google services and being able to monitor your health about as rigorously as the Pixel Watch 2 or the much more expensive Samsung Galaxy Watch 6.<\/div>\n
Although Apple continues to stay away from this particular segment of the market that it so comfortably dominates globally, Samsung<\/a> is reportedly looking to get back into business in the near future with a belated sequel to 2020's Galaxy Fit 2.<\/div>\n

Big screen, even bigger battery<\/h2>\n

Obviously, nothing is set in stone just yet, but if the Galaxy Fit 3 is indeed expected to come with a 1.61-inch screen and “up to” 21 days of battery life , the above FitbitCharge 6<\/span> could well find himself in serious trouble.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy Fit 2, mind you, only sports a 1.1-inch display with a resolution of 294 x 126 pixels, while its long-awaited successor is expected to offer a pixel density of 302 ppi. That's a big number for a “rudimentary” activity tracker, and could be achieved with a resolution of around 440 x 200 pixels, representing a major improvement in image quality.<\/p>\n

This would make the 21-day battery life even more remarkable than it seems, especially if the Galaxy Fit 3's app<\/a> support is also expanded compared to its predecessor, which is not another guarantee. What seems essentially set in stone is that this bad boy will outlast both the Galaxy Fit 2 and the Galaxy Fit 2. FitbitCharge 6<\/span> between charges… by a lot, which would certainly explain the recently speculated price hike on Samsung's latest fitness tracker (at the time of writing).<\/div>\n

What else could the Galaxy Fit 3 bring?<\/h2>\n

Expected to be available in gray, silver, and rose gold colorways, the Galaxy Fit 3 will also tip the scales impressively at just 21.39 grams, despite a high-quality and presumably durable aluminum build. It is much lighter than the FitbitCharge 6<\/span>and it further highlights the potential appeal of that big screen and remarkably hefty battery.<\/p>\n

There's clearly no point in comparing the numbers announced today with those associated with the best smartwatches money can buy right now, but if you're not sure you really need all the features of a Galaxy Watch 6 Classic or an Apple Watch Series<\/a> 9, it might be wise to wait and see what the Galaxy Fit 3 will look like and how much it will actually cost when it goes on sale at some point in (early) 2024 .<\/div>\n
