Everest race winner, betting returns, New Zealand punter wins $10 million, details\u060c<\/p>\n

A New Zealand punter miraculously selected the correct order of finish for The TAB Everest, from first to last, and won almost $10 million.<\/p>\n

The punter correctly selected the rankings of the 12 TAB Everest sprinters won by Think About It in a free competition open to all NZ TAB account holders.<\/p>\n

The odds of selecting the correct order of finish are estimated to be nearly 500 million to one.<\/p>\n

The Auckland-based punter, who requested anonymity after his life-changing victory, told the NZ Herald he saw the promotion on the NZ TAB website and decided to “give it a shot”.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t think too much about my choices and just left the riders where I thought it could go,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI honestly couldn’t believe I won. I actually thought it was a prank when they first called me. I called the TAB again, and it took me a long time to convince him before I understood.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be successful, to win<\/a> $10 million in a free competition, is truly incredible for my family and me. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Everest, the world’s richest turf race with a $20 million prize, was won by favorite Think About It from I Wish I Win and Private Eye.<\/p>\n

The placegetters were the first three in the betting, so the punter was playing it safe by selecting this trio, but putting the next nine runners in order was an extraordinary feat.<\/p>\n

Godolphin duo In Secret and Cylindre finished fourth and fifth, followed by Hawaii Five Oh (sixth), Espiona (seventh), Buenos Noches (eighth), Shinzo (ninth), Overpass (10th), Mazu (11th) and Alcohol Free (12th). .<\/p>\n

The odds of correctly choosing first through 12th on Everest are exactly one in 479,001,600.<\/p>\n

The Everest Mega Millions promotion, with its prize pool of NZ$10 million (A$9.2 million), was designed by NZ TAB to raise awareness in this country of the rich Randwick race, particularly with the sprinter neo -Zealand I Wish I Win, one of the main chances.<\/p>\n

I Wish I Win, trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, raced in the Everest slot for NZ TAB and partner Entain.<\/p>\n

The NZ TAB promotion was free for account holders but limited to one entry per person.<\/p>\n

It is understood NZ TAB and Entain have taken out insurance for the promotion in the unlikely event a punter selects all 12 Everest riders in finishing order.<\/p>\n

Cameron Rodger, managing director of Entain New Zealand which operates NZ TAB, said having a punter win the huge prize is “an incredible achievement”.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverest is the richest turf race in the world and this client managed to take home more than the winner’s purse by achieving one of the most impressive feats of selection we have ever seen,\u201d said Rodger.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe run had over 400 million possible results, and he managed to find exactly the one he needed. We are delighted with the customer engagement this innovative competition has been able to generate and warmly congratulate our winner.<\/p>\n
