Fortunately, as reported <span style=\"font-style: italic;\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/12\/6\/23991183\/google-drive-lost-files-desktop-fix\" class=\"external\">The edge<\/a><\/span>Google has stepped in to save the day with a solution that allows users to recover their missing files.<\/p>\n<p>Although it&#39;s not as simple as pressing a magic button, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/google\/\"   title=\"Google\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Google<\/a> has provided a clear guide to restoring your files.  However, it is not foolproof, requires local storage, and may require switching to the command line interface.  Now let&#39;s see what to do to recover your lost files.<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Download the latest version of Drive for desktop: Make sure you have the latest version of Drive for desktop installed (version 85.0.13.0 or later).<\/li>\n<li>Run the recovery tool: Launch the Drive <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/app\/\"   title=\"app\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">app<\/a> for desktop and follow these steps: <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the Drive icon for desktop in the menu bar or system tray. <\/li>\n<li>Press and hold Shift while clicking &#8220;Settings.&#8221; <\/li>\n<li>Select &#8220;Recover from Backups&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/wikidollar.net\/tag\/start\/\"   title=\"Start\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Start<\/a> the recovery process: The recovery process will start and you will receive a notification saying &#8220;Recovery has started&#8221; or &#8220;No backups found.<\/li>\n<li>Recovery Complete: If a backup was found, the recovery will be completed and you will receive the message &#8220;Recovery is complete&#8221;.  Otherwise, you will need to free up disk space and try again.<\/li>\n<li>Insufficient storage space: If insufficient disk space is detected, you can either free up space and restart recovery, or use the CLI to specify a different recovery file path on a volume with more than &#39;space.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>If you encounter any issues during the recovery process, Google suggests using the feedback form in the Drive desktop app, adding the hashtag #DFD84, and checking the box to include diagnostic logs.
