Meta's Messenger steps up its game by making end-to-end encryption the default for private chats and calls. This added layer of security ensures that your messages and calls are safe from prying eyes, ensuring privacy from the sender's device to the recipient's. Meta<\/a><\/span> points out that even the company can't view your messages unless you choose to report a message.<\/p>\n

In addition to strengthening security, Meta is rolling out other new features. The \u201cEdit Message\u201d feature lets you edit those pesky typos or errors within 15 minutes of hitting the send button, which is perfect for quick, error-prone messages.<\/div>\n

According to Meta, Messenger users share more than 1.3 billion photos and videos daily. In response to this important activity, the company is improving the user experience by making photos and videos more accessible. Voicemail is also getting an update, now allowing you to play voice messages at 1.5x or 2x speeds, resume listening to a voice message where you left off, and continue to listen to a voice message when you exit the chat or app<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For Messenger's more than 1 billion users, end-to-end encryption by default will take a few months to roll out globally. Once your chats are upgraded, you'll need to set up a recovery method, like a PIN, to ensure you can restore messages if your device changes or is lost.
