Google Discover, the personalized content feed that showcases relevant news, articles and videos, is introducing a new feature that makes it easier for users to dig deeper into topics that peak their interest. This beta test embeds footers under specific articles, suggesting related search terms that open up a world of additional information and insights.<\/p>\n

For example, if you’re intrigued by an article featuring a specific smartphone, the footer might invite you to explore a similar phone or category, such as “2023 flip phones.” This seamless integration streamlines the process of expanding your knowledge without having to wade through endless search results.<\/div>\n

Tapping on these footers triggers a Google<\/a> search for the specific phrase displayed, opening access to additional articles and contextual information relating to the topic. This feature is similar to a previous Google experiment that added a fake search bar above certain articles.<\/p>\n

This new feature was spotted by the team at Android Font<\/a> when browsing the Discover feed on a Pixel device, where these handy related search term footers started appearing on some articles. This beta test is a throwback to Google’s previous attempts to make Discover more topic-focused, as it was noted that back in 2018<\/a>Discover featured \u201ctopic headers\u201d that allowed users to explore related content.<\/div>\n
The footer rollout appears to still be in its early stages and it’s unclear if or when it will be made available to a wider range of users. Clearly, Google is still tweaking this feature, so you may not see it for every article.<\/div>\n

That said, if you come across this feature on your Discover feed \u2013 and you like exploring new topics and discovering hidden gems \u2013 you might want to give it a try.
