Google says goodbye to an informative feature that brought parents and kids together،

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you’re a fan of Google Assistant’s “pet of the day,” we have to tell you that with today’s selection, Crickets, that feature no longer exists. If you ask Google Assistant to see “animal of the day”, under the description of the crickets there is a box that says: “By the way, unfortunately the animal of the day is leaving at the end of November. After that, I’ I’m always happy to answer more questions about your favorite animals to keep learning.

Considering that some parents have made it a daily habit to introduce their children to the Google Assistant “pet of the day,” some for years, this is a feature that some will miss. Of course, you can always ask Google Assistant to tell you a joke. Even though the Google Assistant “pet of the day” no longer exists, you will still be able to ask the Assistant questions about a specific animal, such as “Where do coyotes live?”

You old-time phone lovers may remember that when Apple introduced Siri with the iPhone 4s in 2011, an ad showed a young girl asking Siri, “What does a weasel look like?” Google Assistant will still be able to answer such questions even if it doesn’t chat about a random animal every day.

Google Shuts Down Assistant Pet of the Day

In addition to removing functionality from the Google Assistant smartphone app, including the iOS version of the app, Google has removed the Assistant “pet of the day” from its smart display. Here is a typical complaint from the Google Nest communitythis one written by “GotSka81” who says: “My Google Nest screen told me today that today’s pet is no longer available. Why? I recognize that I’m only one person, but Animal of the Day has been a fun activity for my family (two young boys) for as long as I can remember.

He goes on to say, “I’m very disappointed that Google seems completely disinterested in improving the products it creates, choosing instead to create new products (which lack features and are generally worse).” Another community member, “nstewarttx,” sums up how many parents feel with a succinct statement: “Surprisingly, this educational feature has quickly become a daily habit that we will miss. Anyone know why?

What’s the reason you gave up on something that was billed as educational, fun and brought children closer to their parents? Google hasn’t said this yet, but the answer should be pretty interesting.
