Analysis of PS5 Slim Shows It’s Not Much Slimmer Than the OG Model

The PlayStation 5 is a pretty beastly machine in terms of size, so the slim model will offer a smaller version of the console. However, although it is smaller, the PS5 Slim doesn’t look as svelte as many might imagine.

But it’s still smaller

Based on a video analysis by Dave2D (spotted by Eurogamer), the thinner version of the PS5 is only slightly smaller than its heavier cousin.

Although the overall video shows off some of the slim model’s nice features, such as the easily removable hard drive, when placed next to the OG system there isn’t a huge difference in size.

The PS5 Slim is, of course, smaller, but it only appears to be a fraction of the height of the current system, which you can see when the YouTube host puts them side by side, shown around 3:50 in the video. above.

In terms of actual dimensions, the PlayStation 5 Slim measures 358 x 96 x 216mm and 358 x 80 x 216mm for the standard and digital edition of each console, respectively. Compare that to the OG machine, which measures 390 x 104 x 260mm and a little less for the digital edition, and there’s not much between them.

Regardless, it’s even smaller, but considering the original model is already pretty massive, the PS5 Slim still doesn’t look really elegant.

For US gamers, the new model is expected to release this month and then roll out to countries like the UK sometime after.
