Galaxy S24 vs Pixel 8: battle of the friendly competitors،
Introduction
We will cover all aspects including looks/design as well as performance and software, both aspects being quite different between these two phones despite the fact that you are using an Android device whichever one you choose. Price also plays an important role here, as there is a good chance that the Pixel 8 the launch price will remain $100 lower than the S24.
- Tensor G3 vs. Snapdragon Gen 3/Exynos 2400
- Two completely different models
- Triple camera system versus dual cameras enabled Pixel 8
- Higher base storage on the S24

Design and size
Block versus stone
A phone’s most recognizable feature, its cameras, is probably where the aesthetic difference will continue to be most visible between the Android duo, with the Galaxy S24 stick to “floating” cameras vs. Pixel 8The camera bar.
As for the size difference, Samsung’s vanilla flagship has been one of the best compact phones on the market for a few years now, and the company will most likely continue this trend. The dimensions have hardly changed with the last generations, and we don’t expect anything different this year either. In other words, expect the S24 to be noticeably smaller when placed next to the Pixel 8.
THE Pixel 8 comes with glass back and front panels, aluminum frame and IP68 water and dust resistance certification, and the Galaxy S24 should have the same characteristics.
Display differences
There is virtually no difference between the display on the Pixel 8 and the one that Galaxy S24 they say it comes with it. Both are capable of a high 120Hz refresh rate, they are 6.2-inch OLEDs, and can get very bright. THE Pixel 8 has already built a reputation for having one of the most exemplary displays this year, and we expect Samsung’s next vanilla Galaxy flagship to live up to that success.
Performance and software
Higher performance compared to longer support
As for RAM, the Pixel 8The base model comes with 6 GB, while the Galaxy S24 is supposed to have 8 GB, regardless of the storage option chosen.
Despite the difference in power that these two phones will likely have, we still think that the overall user experience will be quite similar between the two, i.e. smooth and pleasant. Only during more GPU-intensive tasks, such as playing graphically intensive games, can we see a noticeable difference in performance.
Another area where Samsung should win is in software support, as in previous years it was even better than what Google offered for its own phones. However, things have changed and Google made waves this year by promising 7 years of software updates and security patches for the Pixel 8. It’s not yet clear whether Samsung would try to match that, but as it stands, the South Korean tech giant is promising 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches for its phones top of the line.
Camera
Futuristic software features vs dedicated hardware
THE Pixel 8 comes with an exceptional main camera, as is tradition with Pixel phones. That being said, the Galaxy S24 probably won’t be a slouch either, and as has been the case for years now, it will have an additional dedicated telephoto lens, unlike the Pixel (or the iPhone for that matter). The third camera on the back of the Samsung has always been a major advantage for the vanilla Galaxy flagships.
One thing that is certain, however, is that the zoom capability will be greater on the S24 thanks to its dedicated 3X telephoto lens.
Google this year introduced something called Video Boost, which elevates videos by sending them to the company’s cloud infrastructure where it uses the magic of AI to transform the images. Some reports suggest that Samsung will also focus on software with the S24 next year, so we’ll have to wait and see if anything similar appears.
Additionally, the Video Boost feature on the Pixel 8 isn’t available yet (coming in December), so we also don’t know for sure how it will perform.
Audio and haptic quality
The haptics on both phones should be about the same in terms of strength and precision, although the Pixel 8 might turn out to have a more powerful vibration motor, as this year’s generation felt a little different on that front.
Battery life and charging
The Pixel could have longer battery life
THE Pixel 8 comes with a claimed larger battery at 4,575mAh and exhibited excellent battery life when we put it through our testing. In general, the Pixel consumes less battery than the Galaxy, and this trend could persist with the Galaxy S24, but it’s important to mention that for that slightly lower battery life, you get a higher level of performance, so things sort of balance out. THE Galaxy S24 is said to come with a 4,000mAh battery.
In terms of charging, if Samsung doesn’t finally step up its game, both phones will take about the same amount of time to charge whether you opt for wired or wireless charging. Both also support reverse wireless charging, meaning you can use them to charge something like your Bluetooth headphones or smartwatch.

From what we learned about the next Galaxy S24 for now, in terms of specifications, it won’t be too different from the Pixel 8. The only real difference between the two is that the Pixel doesn’t have a third (telephoto) camera on the back, and it comes with a different processor that, mind you, will likely be less powerful than the one in the S24.
Summary
The thing is, Google is the one making things exciting these days, perhaps because the company entered the smartphone game (at least when it comes to its Pixel phones) a bit later. THE Pixel 8 comes with some witty new features that may seem like gimmicks at first, but are actually useful in users’ daily lives.
THE Galaxy S24 will undoubtedly be a great phone that covers everything you can expect from a Samsung flagship: an impressive screen, excellent camera performance, speed… At this point, however, it seems that the company needs to do something more, something creative to stand out, because Google has, for all intents and purposes, almost caught up in terms of specs, as well as having more character in its phones.
